Total Order-to-Delivery Timeline
For most international orders, total time from confirmation to delivery is 2 to 4 weeks. Breakdown:
- Day 0: Order placed via website or WhatsApp; payment received via Stripe / E-Transfer / UPI
- Day 0-1: Veerpal confirms measurements with you on WhatsApp. No piece is cut until measurements are double-checked.
- Day 1-10: Custom stitching at the Bathinda workshop (7-10 working days for hand-embroidered Kudta Chadra; faster for accessories like Jutti or Kaintha)
- Day 10-11: Quality inspection by Singh's mother; final touches; packaging
- Day 11: International dispatch from Bathinda
- Day 11-25: International transit, depending on destination country
Transit Time by Country
- Canada / United States: 7-10 days transit after dispatch
- United Kingdom / Europe: 7-14 days transit
- Australia / New Zealand: 10-14 days transit
- Other regions (Middle East, Southeast Asia, etc.): 14-21 days; message us before ordering for specifics
When to Order for Each Major Occasion
Working backward from delivery, here's when you should place your order to be safe:
- Vaisakhi (April 13-14): Order by mid-March latest. Earlier is better — production demand peaks in March.
- Lohri (January 13): Order by mid-December latest. Holiday-season transit can be slower.
- Gurpurab (varies): Order at least 4 weeks ahead
- Wedding: Order the moment the date is confirmed — 6+ weeks ideal
- Naming ceremony / first birthday: Order within the first 2-3 weeks of pregnancy second-trimester so it arrives in time
What If You're in a Time Crunch?
If your event is sooner than 4 weeks out, message Veerpal on WhatsApp before placing the order. Sometimes there are ready-stitched pieces in stock that can ship faster, or we can prioritise the workshop queue when a family is genuinely in a bind.
Note: rushing the workshop typically means foregoing the more elaborate hand-embroidery work. If we're stitching in 3-4 days instead of 8-10, the embroidery is necessarily lighter. We'll be honest about the trade-off if you ask.
Why Custom Stitching Takes Longer Than Off-the-Rack
Off-the-shelf retail (Lashkaraa, Andaaz, most Indian e-commerce) ships in 1-3 days because the pieces are already cut, stitched, and warehoused — when you order, the warehouse picks the size closest to your selection and ships it. The bottleneck is shipping, not production.
Custom stitching reverses this entirely. When your order arrives at our Bathinda workshop, no fabric has been cut for it yet. The senior tailor reviews your measurements (confirmed via WhatsApp), selects the appropriate Giza Cotton bolt, hand-traces the pattern, cuts the kurta and chadra, then passes it to the embroidery artisans. The Morni Chandra peacock embroidery alone takes 2-4 days of focused hand-stitching by a master artisan — there is no machine shortcut for this. After embroidery, the kurta returns to the senior tailor for finishing seams, hemming, and any name embroidery. The piece then goes to Singh's mother for final quality inspection before packaging.
The end result: a piece sized for your child specifically, embroidered by hand in a tradition that takes years to learn, inspected by a person whose name you know. The 7-10 day workshop time is not slow — it is the actual time required to do the work without shortcuts. For families ordering for occasions where the outfit will live in family photos for decades, the timeline is well worth it. For everyday cultural wear where speed matters more, off-the-rack alternatives are the better fit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I track the production stage in real-time?
We don't have a public order-tracking dashboard, but Veerpal sends WhatsApp updates at three milestones: (1) measurements confirmed and stitching has begun; (2) embroidery complete and final stitching underway; (3) quality inspection passed and parcel dispatched. If you want a status update outside these milestones, message Veerpal directly.
What happens if the workshop is at capacity when I order?
Demand peaks ahead of Vaisakhi (March), Diwali, and wedding season (December-March). When the workshop reaches capacity, we either close the order book temporarily or extend the quoted timeline by 1-2 weeks. Veerpal will tell you the realistic timeline before you pay — we don't take orders we can't deliver on time. If your event is during peak demand, order at least 6 weeks ahead to be safe.
Are there any pieces with faster turnaround?
Plain Custom Kurta Chadra (no Morni Chandra embroidery) ships faster — typically 5-7 days at the workshop instead of 7-10. See our Custom Kurta Chadra collection for pieces appropriate for everyday cultural wear with shorter timelines. Accessories (Jutti, Kaintha, Pagg) can also ship in 3-5 days when ordered separately.
